We are an award-winning cupcake shop in Golden, Colorado. 

Our cupcakes have been named in the Top 16 in the nation by MSN, voted as "Best Cupcakes" on Denver's A-List in 2017, 2018, and 2020! We were also voted Best cupcakes in Colorado by Delish.com and recently voted Best Dessert and Best Bakery in Golden, Colorado. 

The dream for Gold Mine Cupcakes began many years ago, as Sara Rutter grew up with a love for baking. In 2013, she was able to bring that dream to a reality.  Originally, she began baking in her mom's kitchen, but when the demand grew, she moved to a commercial kitchen, and in 2015,  landed in the heart of downtown Golden, CO. As a family business Sara, her mom Janeen and sister Krista considered being in Golden a dream come true. 

In 2021, the family sold Gold Mine Cupcakes to Dan and Jen Thoemke because of their love of the Golden community and passion for making Golden the best town in the world.  You will find the same amazing recipes, that have created the standard for cupcakes in not only Colorado, but the country. Krista has stayed on as General Manager.

Gold Mine Cupcakes creates all of our recipes from scratch and are made fresh each day.  We strive to be Colorado's first choice for cupcakes, while providing excellent customer service and a close family and community atmosphere.
