About
Founded in 1987 by Connie Zimmerman, BeyondHome began as Colorado Homeless Families, providing safe, affordable housing for working families experiencing homelessness. Over the decades, it has expanded from six HUD homes to 37 units, evolving into a holistic program that addresses financial independence, career development, and family stability. Under Executive Director Karen Allen’s leadership since 2016, BeyondHome has integrated trauma-informed therapy, workforce development, and educational support to empower families toward self-sufficiency. Since its inception, BeyondHome has housed hundreds of families, with 49 graduating since 2016—29 of whom became homeowners. Today, BeyondHome serves approximately 200 individuals annually, helping them build long-term stability and success.
