The Plains End Generating Station is the largest gas-fired peaking plant in North America. The facility, located in Arvada, Colorado near the Rocky Mountains, has 20 Wärtsilä 18V34SG reciprocating engines in Unit 1, and 14 Wärtsilä 20V34SG engines in Unit 2. Designated black start facility for Xcel's Denver Metro area.
