Job Summary: Under the direction of the Dean of Enrollment Management, this position focuses on supporting new and first year students in their transition to Red Rocks Community College. The Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of the First Year Experience (FYE) program at RRCC including coordinating efforts with Academic Affairs and other key areas across the college to support student retention and success rates.

Description of Position

Responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing review of a tactical plan and strategy implementation for First Year students that includes establishing the infrastructure, program assessment, and criteria for student participants in the FYE Program. Individuate FYE content and structure based on existing literature and research. Increase the retention and success rates of students though the development, implementation, coordination, promotion, and management of the FYE Program.

Design, implement and facilitate the FYE D2L course for students.  Create modules which can also be utilized by students and instructors in FYE embedded courses. Provide feedback to students and useD2L-generated data to monitor students’ progression and completion of modules. Communicate with students related to their D2L activity. Update content as needed to best meet students’ acclimation needs. 

Coordinate the execution and assessment of the FYE embedded Pathways courses and FYE D2L course for new/newer students.  Collaborate with Academic Affairs and other key departments in the design of the offered courses to meet the identified FYE learning objectives. Collaborate with the Teaching Learning Center for FYE faculty/instructor trainings.

Coordinate, design, and/or facilitate presentations, activities, programs, and workshops to support the success of first year students.

Develop student communications, including web-based content, publications, and collaborate with Marketing on social media efforts relating to the First Year Experience for students. Assist the Dean of Enrollment Management and/or the Vice President of Student Success with projects and initiatives.

Develop and monitor the operating budget in collaboration with the Dean of Enrollment Management.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, leadership and organizational development, or related field. One-year full time coordination of student programs including experience developing student support services and facilitating on-campus and virtual workshops. One year of partnering with students and colleagues to foster and enrich a campus or work environment that is inclusive, pluralistic, and diverse.

Preferred: Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel, counseling, or a related field. One year of experience with a First Year Experience program in a college setting. One year of experience working with community college students One-year service and/or work experience that includes supporting the success of students from typically underrepresented racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds. Proficient in Desire2Learn – Learning Management System.  Experience managing a budget.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to keep current with trends and promising practices within higher education. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to create and keep deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage partnerships in order to meet college, division, and department goals. Ability to work flexible hours including some evening and weekend hours. Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, review and generate reports, and communicate with students.
