Assistant Brewer

General Summary:

LUKI is looking for an individual to join our growing brewery and help us develop long-term success. We are a 350 BBL brewery on the west side of Arvada, CO, opened July 2020.

Under the supervision and guidance of the Head Brewer and LUKI Brewery ownership, the Assistant Brewer is responsible for ensuring quality beer production. The Assistant Brewer is an integral part of the production team.

Hours & Benefits:


· Minimum 32 hours, up to 40 hours per week

· Typical schedule, Monday-Friday 8am until all primary duties complete

· Brew days on Tuesdays and Fridays, starting at 7am. Occasional brew days outside of Tuesdays and Fridays may occur but will be scheduled in advance with approximately a 2-week notice.


· $16-20/hour based on experience

· 50% paid medical benefits. Vision and Dental not currently covered.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


1. Brew day preparation, including by not limited to unloading and organize grain shipments, prepare hop quantities, and measure out minerals.

2. Brew Day assistance, CIP, and clean-up

3. Ongoing training in wort production and brewing procedures with the goal of brewing independently within 6-9 months

4. Restock raw materials and product as needed

Ongoing Fermentation and Aging

1. Perform daily gravity checks on all fermenting beer

2. Process beers in accordance with the brew schedule

3. Harvest yeast and follow proper yeast storage protocols

4. Drop cone and disposal of yeast and/or trub as required.

5. Crash and dry hop beers as needed

Tank Management

1. Work under the guidance of Head Brewer to clean and prepare tanks for production, transfer, and packaging in accordance to schedule.

2. Transfer and carbonate beer


1. Keg beer as directed by Head Brewer

2. Maintain cooler for taproom service and storage, reorganizing and consolidating kegs as needed.

3. Organize distribution shipments as required in accordance with weekly pick-up and delivery schedule

General Maintenance and Cleaning

1. Monitor overall cleanliness of vessels, including brew deck, heat exchanger, and packaging machinery

2. Monitor valves, hardware, and gaskets on all vessels, flag if damaged.

3. Change valve gaskets, tighten screws, etc. as needed.

4. Perform weekly, monthly, and quarterly maintenance in accordance with the maintenance checklist.

Administrative & Other Duties

1. Assist Brewer and Head Brewer with development and ongoing revisions of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and checklists.

2. Follow all safety procedures.

3. Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Skill and Knowledge

1. Passion for, and desire to continue to grow personal knowledge of craft beer and the brewing industry

2. General knowledge of practices, methods, tools, and equipment used in production and pub-style brewing.

3. General knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions associated with work.

4. Ability to interpret technical bulletins and schematics on equipment related to work.

5. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

6. Critical thinking and conflict resolution skills

Education and Experience:

1. High School diploma required

2. Must be 21-years of age

3. No commercial experience necessary. Prefer experience with all-grain brewing at any level.

Physical Requirements:

  • Involves frequent walking, lifting, and carrying objects weighing 50lbs routinely, occasional lifting of 100-150lbs.
  • Must be able to work with fitted face respirator (provided) for periods not to exceed 30-minutes.
  • Frequent use of latches, hand tools, clamps, hoses, etc., requiring manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Exposes employee to potentially minor injuries.
  • Regular contact with production employees and management, as well as periodic, but consistent, customer interaction.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
